A Patriotic Mani

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!

I decided to get creative for the 4th. Didn't turn out too bad, though it took me 3 hours to do, whew!

I started with clear base coat, then 3 coats of Zoya - Gaia. Then 2 diagonal coats of the blue OPI - Dating a Royal. Topped the blue with 1 coat of Orly - Prisma Gloss Silver. The stars are the hardest to do, I used the tip of the brush with 1 star on it and placed them 1 at a time where I wanted them. I've tried using these type of polishes as a topcoat, but the shapes seem to stay in the bottle and maybe get one or two per coat. It just looks messy. I let the polishes dry at least 15 minutes between colors so I wouldn't have any smearing. Then used Seche Vite topcoat to seal the entire nail.

I hope I can go chip free for a couple of days!!

ZOYA Matte Finish Polish ~ Posh

I finally got my hands on this polish and I love it!! But this polish is not user friendly. It dries very quickly and you can't correct any mistakes. (you can see a black line on my ring finger where I tried to go back over the polish) But even with that, the finished look is well worth it. Zoya has released a few other colors, and now I want them all!

Le Metier Polish

While shopping online at Neiman Marcus, I came across this brand of polish. They had quite a few pretty shades and this one "Phlox" caught my eye. According to their website, this polish is supposed to last 14 days! I am on day one, but will leave it on as long as it looks good. The site does not show the fl. oz. of the bottle you are purchasing and to my surprise it is very tiny, 4 ml. I'll be lucky to get 3 manis out of it! And it was $15, which wouldn't be so bad if it was a normal size polish.

Pretty though, don't you think?

Matte Polish

It seems like a new trend is coming, matte polish! Manglaze and KnockOut have been around for a while, but now OPI and Zoya are jumping on the band wagon. Though not out yet, they will be released for fall. I have a bottle of KO in Calamine. Bottle is so pretty! But the brush handle is so long, it takes some getting used to. Polish is a little thick going on and has a shiny appearance and then, voila! it dries to a matte finish. Cool! I needed 3 coats to get even coverage.
I haven't decided if I like this look, maybe a different color would work better for me. What do you think?

Chanel Galactic Touch

Chanel just released a new collection of polishes and I managed to snag one before they were gone! I am nuts for Chanel polish , which really is nuts considering the price of these babies! I currently own 14 of them! And 2 were limited editions at $30 a bottle (nuts!)

This new collection consists of glitter polishes in 4 different colors. (gold, silver, pink, and blue) I have swatched the gold one here, Galactic Touch. The photo doesn't show the glitter very well, but it's close. The only problem I had is that I needed 4 coats for the coverage that I prefer, and at $23.00 a bottle, ouch!
Sold out online, but may be available in dept stores.

OPI - Summer 09 A Grape Fit

I decided to take a new photo of OPI's A Grape Fit. My earlier post didn't do it justice. It really is what I would call "grape". This pic is 2 coats with a top coat. I love this one for summer!

China Glaze - OMG

Usually when I am in a hurry, I end up with bubbles. Not with this polish. I applied two coats with no wait time and Seche Vite for the top coat. No issues whatsoever. This is a beautiful silver holograpic, wish you could see this IRL. I can't stop looking at my nails, although in the sun I may go blind!!
China Glaze released 12 colors in this Holograpic collection. I think I may have to invest in a few more!

Konad Nail Art

After seeing so many cute designs out there, I decided to give this a try! I have to admit, it is harder than I thought it would be. I mean, with some of the designs you have to be completely centered length and width. For me, this is hard to do. I found a random pattern, like the one posted is much easier. (I loose patience!)
My base polish is Finger Paints - Mystery Muse

OPI & China Glaze Summer 09

I received my order today and could not make up my mind which polish to use. So, I thought I would swatch them and decide then. Well, I still don't know! Anyway, if you are looking for a good place to buy online, try transdesign.com. They usually have the newest releases available and they have great prices!

I had no issues with any of these polishes. All had complete coverage in 2 coats and have a nice glossy finish. Though I always use Seche Vite top coat on my nails, these pics are without it.

From index to pinky:

China Glaze - Laced Up, China Glaze - Sneaker Head, OPI - No Room For The Blues, OPI - A Grape Fit. The China Glaze polishes are right on with the pic. The OPI blue is a little darker and more of a turquoise, the purple is less blue. My camera has trouble with blues/purples, sorry!

Are any of these calling your name?

OPI Re-released Shades

For summer 2009 OPI has re-released some of their most popular shades. I have 2 swatches of them.

First - Venus di Violet - From the Collezion Italiana 2001. I like this one a lot. A beautiful pink/lilac shade with a pearlized finish.
Second - Cancun Fiesta - From their original 1989 collection. Bright pink with blue undertones, great for a pedi!

Essie The North Fork Collection - Sag Harbor

Happy Mother's Day!

This has been a favorite for many of us nail polish enthusiasts. A pretty shade of blue for Spring.

About

Welcome to my blog! I am addicted to nail polish and thought I would share some of my favorite colors. My most recent purchase is MAC Love & Friendship. I love this lavender shade! This is 3 coats + topcoat.
